By the amendment of the Company Law, Cap.113 published today, on 4th of November 2011, an electronic signature may be accepted by the COMPANY REGISTRAR regarding to all forms, certificates, minutes or other documents which are presented or sent to the Company Registrar for registration or issued by the Company Registrar. CONDITION: The Company Registrar shall previously approve the usage of this method of signing documents.


Where the use of electronic signature takes place it shall be considered the same as handmade signature for the purposes of any criminal or civil procedure. It will be also considered that the person who used this way of signing document knows the context of the document.


The Director of Inland Revenue informs taxpayers (natural and legal persons) that during 2011 and at the beginning of the year 2012 local inspections will be executed with the purpose of verification of issuing invoices, receipts, updating book keeping and the legality of those according the legislation in force.

The Department of Inland Revenue requests that taxpayers to comply with the provisions of a new tax legislation immediately and completely.

Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and the Government of Ukraine on economic, scientific, technical and industrial cooperation

The Government of the Republic of Cyprus and the Government of Ukraine, animated by the desire to secure and further strengthen friendly relations between the people of their two countries, concluded the agreement on economic, scientific, technical and industrial cooperation on the 4th of July 2011.


The scope of the Agreement is to promote and strengthen economic, scientific, technical and industrial cooperation of these two countries on a mutual benefit basis. According to article 3 of the Agreement cooperation within the scope of the present Agreement shall include:

a)      Promotion the establishment of industrial complexes, expansion and modernization of industrial enterprises;

b)     The financing of development programmes and projects, on the basis of long- term arrangements;

c)      The exchange of scientific and technological information for the development of long-term arrangement programmes and projects;

d)     The exchange of technical experts and scientific research equipment;

e)      The promotion in the development of infrastructure projects;

f)       Promotion of tourism;

g)     Other forms of economic, scientific and technical cooperation, in conformity with the needs of two countries, subject to agreements concluded between two Contracting Parties.


The two Contracting Parties shall encourage the participation of their organizations and enterprises in the implementation and execution of the development programmes and projects of the other country.


The Contracting Parties shall encourage cooperation and conclusion of agreements and contracts between Cypriot and Ukrainian natural and legal persons and shall provide the necessary facilities. The Contracting Parties may determine, on the basis of mutual agreement, other fields of cooperation.


The Cypriot – Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission shall be established to follow up the development of cooperation in the agreed fields.

The UK Bribery Act 2010 came into force on 1 July 2011 signalling a concerted effort by the UK to be among the leading nations in international anti-corruption efforts. The purpose of the Act is to reform the criminal law of bribery and to provide for a new consolidated scheme to cover bribery both in the United Kingdom and abroad.


The event will be of interest to all business groups and government officials particularly those involved in procurement.  It is expected that the presentation will stimulate dialogue and allow for vigorous contributions from the Participants.
